Cross Body Lead (1st Bar) in Detail sn0141

  • This chart gives general instructions on how to do the first bar of a Cross Body Lead which can be adapted to other situations.

S1) Lead's left hand pushes Follower's right hand backward (relative to Follower) to signal Follower to step backward.
Lead's left foot steps forward.
Follower's right foot steps backward.

S2) Lead puts the palm of their right hand on the middle of Follower's back (on the the rib cage).
Lead's right foot steps out to Follower's left side.

S3) Lead's left foot steps alongside their right foot to leave space for Follower to walk forward. As a guide Lead's feet are approx. 12" (30cm) apart.
Lead's left hand holds Follower's right hand at Follower's waist height in Hook Hold.
Follower's right foot steps next to their left foot.

S4) Pause.
