S1) Lead's left foot steps outward.

Lead and Follower continue Open Break.

S2) Lead and Follower continue Open Break.

Lead's right hand holds Follower's left hand at waist height.

Lead turns 45° CW as Lead's right foot steps in front of their left foot.

Follower's left foot steps forward.

S3) First - Lead's left hand pulls Follower's right hand up and over Follower's head in a CCW motion. Hands are in Turn Hold.

Lead's right hand lets go of Follower's left hand (at waist level) at the last moment.

Lead twists 90° CW on their right leg.

Follower Spins 180° CCW on the ball of their left foot, powered by their right foot.

Second - Lead's right hand slides along the underside of Follower's left forearm up to the hand.

S4) Pause.

Lead's right hand takes hold of Follower's left hand.

S5) Lead's right foot steps backward.

Follower's left foot steps backward.

S6) Lead's right hand raises Follower's left hand in Window Hold allowing Lead to step under Follower's arm.

Important - Lead's right elbow must be kept close to Lead's body to avoid striking Follower.

Lead's left hand lightly presses the palm of Follower's right hand flat against Lead's stomach. Follower's right hand is a Placed Hand.

Lead's left foot steps forward.

Follower's right foot steps forward.

S7) Lead Spins 180° CCW on the ball of their left foot, powered by their right foot.

Follower Spins 180° CW on the ball of their right foot, powered by their left foot.

As Lead and Follower turn, Follower's right hand slips from under Lead's hand.

S8) Pause. Lead's left hand takes hold of Follower's right hand.

  • Do not step too far back on S1 or S5 as this makes the steps forward on S2 and S6 less effective.
  • It is easier to get around each other if you keep fairly close together. Do not get too far apart with your arms outstretched.
  • In theory Follower moves backward and forward along a line, while Lead moves around Follower, but in practice Follower moves around Lead a little also.
  • Figure of Eights can be done individually but usually two or three are done one after the other. Once you have done one or two it can then be difficult to stop doing more Figure of Eights. A suggested way to stop them is to do:

    [Figure of Eight] > Ending 1, sn0091, H... > H2.1, or

    [Figure of Eight] > Ending 2, sn0101, H... > H2.1
